FISSURE
An anal fissure is a split or tear in the skin in the anal canal (back passage). It is like an open sore or cut. It is either acute or chronic.
People usually have severe pain and pass fresh blood when passing stools. It is more common during pregnancy, chronic constipation, other medical conditions like
inflammatory bowel disease or TB etc and smoking is a risk factor. Majority are usually treated laxatives, pain relief and ointment to relax sphincter muscles
( GTN or Diltiazem). Very few people need surgery (Lateral sphincterotomy)
