It is a test to measure the functioning of anal sphincter complex and rectum(Muscles that control the passage of air, liquid and stools through the anus). Damage to these muscles can occur during normal delivery or from fistula surgery or piles surgery. Damage to muscles causes incontinence(Inability to control the passage of air, liquid and stools through the anus or back passage). Procedure involves insertion of small flexible tube/electrode with a ballon at the end, inserted into the rectum/lower end of large bowel through the anal canal. The tube is connected to computer. The electrode helps to assess contract and relaxation of the sphincter muscles. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and is completely safe
