RECTAL PROLAPSE
Rectal prolapse is protrusion of rectum (lower part of large bowel) through anal canal. Weakness of anal muscles is often associated with prolapse. This leads to leakage of mucus or stools. This condition is sometimes confused with piles (Haemorrhoids).
Main reason for prolapse is chronic straining during bowel movement (Defecation), result of vaginal delivery . Can also be caused by pelvic floor muscle weakness and is often associated with urinary leakage and prolapse of uterus in females.
